As a Mexican art director and brand designer, I was thrilled to take on the challenge of creating a new brand concept for a new food place in my city. It's about Tamagoshi, a local restaurant in Guadalajara that serves mouth-watering egg sandwiches prepared with sourdough bread, organic eggs, and high-quality ingredients. My goal was to create a cohesive and visually appealing identity, to help them stand out in the crowded restaurant market. One of the most relevant elements of the project was creating the restaurant's name, which I accomplished through creative exploration. After considering several options, I ultimately came up with "Tamagoshi," a clever and memorable moniker that blends the Japanese word for "egg," "Tamago," with the suffix "shi," derived from the Japanese word "Shifuku," meaning "bliss." This name reflects the restaurant's focus on providing a delicious breakfast experience for every customer. And its playful phonetic reference to the Tamagotchi electronic pet toy adds a touch of nostalgia and whimsy. With the name and concept in place, I moved to create the visual identity, developing a color palette, typography, and a series of illustrations in a playful doodle style. These elements work together to create a cohesive and memorable brand identity.
